Jack London Square: An Overview!
The Maritime
Jack London Square is owned by the Port of Oakland. It’s here that you can get the best views of the magnificent and gigantic container ships bringing in and shipping out all kinds of goods. We mentioned the cranes here were inspiration for George Lucas’s Star Wars machines, the AT-ATs, catch the best views of them here! Also, you can check out the historical USS Potomac, the only presidential yacht open to the public. Visit their website and schedule a tour, it’s luxurious.
The Agricultural
Every Sunday, year round, there is a farmer’s market along the waterfront! It’s open from 10am-3pm. You can find all kinds of local produce, food crafts, and breakfast and lunch options!
Fine Dining
With such beautiful views, how could there not be fine dining at Jack London Square. Three popular options are Scott’s Seafood, Kincaid’s, and Yoshi’s where you can eat some of the best seafood around. Don’t miss the local musicians at Yoshi’s on the weekends!
Transit
You can find two huge means of transportation in the Square. It’s here you can catch the Ferry over to Alameda or multiple docks in San Francisco. Commuters and visitors alike love the ferry, as it’s a beautiful way to cross the Bay! Love the sound of trains? You can also find an Amtrak station! Get on the train here to start your adventure North or South!

Many businesses have their offices in Jack London Square. Including big names like KTUV Channel 2 the Bay Area’s News and the headquarters of the Oakland A’s! You’ll also find a diverse amount of restaurants and other businesses like Cost Plus World Market, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and a BevMo!

Jack London was one of America’s first writers to make a living of the craft. He wrote American classics like White Fang, the Call of the Wild, and the Sea Wolf.
