ucked into Old Oakland just up Broadway, Cafe Gabriela is the kind of warm, community-rooted coffee bar you wish was on your own corner. Founded in 2010 and named for Filipina revolutionary Gabriela Silang, it roasts coffee in-house and turns out generously built sandwiches on fresh-baked bread — the pulled pork is the one regulars come back for. There's local art on the walls, a genuine commitment to the neighborhood, and a welcome that feels, as they put it, like your lola's kitchen. A great morning stop before a day downtown. Open weekday mornings into the afternoon and closed weekends, so plan a weekday visit.
