What's the tax rate for staying at the hotel?

Your room rate does not include taxes - as taxes are generally added after the fact. The tax rate for guest rooms is: 14% of room rate | Oakland TBID Tax: $1.50 per night, per room | California Tourism Tax: 0.195% of room rate. NOTE: These taxes and fees are subject to change without notice. Every guest is responsible to pay taxes on their reservation unless they qualify for tax-exempt and bring with them the proper exempt form.

Are you safe in terms of COVID-19?

We understand how important your safety is when traveling. We have been certified Clean+Safe by the California Hotel & Lodging Association and continue to follow all protocols for your safety and ours.

Do you allow pets?

As much as we love our furry friends, we ask that you either leave them at home with a pet sitter or accommodate them at Oakland Wag Hotel. Any undeclared pets may result in a fine of $250. Registered and training service animals are, of course, allowed. We highly encourage service animal owners to be on the 1st floor of our hotel, as it's more convenient for the animal's relief. NOTE: The service animal must not be unattended in our rooms. The service animal must go where ever the owner goes.

Do you allow smoking?

We are a 100% Non-Smoking hotel, and violation of this simple policy may result in hefty fines, starting at $250. Smoking on the balcony or patio is not allowed, as it's still considered part of the hotel. California law states 20-feet from any exit or window. Please don't break the law.

We also don't allow vaping, incenses, candles or anything with an open flame.

Do you allow parties in your rooms?

We do not allow any parties. Our mission statement is: "Provide an enjoyable experience for all of  our guests.” It is impossible for our guests to enjoy their time with us if another guest and their friends are partying and making noise next door or down the hall. If a party is suspected, we will ask all 'non-registered' guest to vacate the room, and the 'registered' guest may be fined $250. Let's be kind to our fellow guests, and don't party. Besides, Oakland has a lot of great places to party at!

Do you accept prepaid cards?

We accept major credit cards only: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover & Diner Club. All credit card provided at check-in time are required to be EMV enabled (chipped). Any credit card that is not equipped with a chip will not be accepted. We also do not accept any prepaid debit or credit cards (For example: American Express Serve, Green Dot, NetSpend, etc.). NOTE: As debit cards (with a credit card logo) may be accepted, we suggest using a major credit card instead. Settlements/release of deposit funds process much quicker on credit cards than debit cards, and credit cards sometimes offer better travel protection.

Do you take deposits at check-in time?

Each reservation requires a $100 incidental hold (or deposit) that is to be placed on the credit card on file for the duration of the reservation. At the time of check out, if no incidentals were posted to the room, then the $100 hold is returned to the credit card on file. NOTE: It may take 3 to 5 business days for the funds to reflect on your statement for credit cards or 5 to 10 business days for debit cards. This varies with different banks and the time period is really up to the bank.

What is your cancellation policy?

Standard cancellations must be made by 3 p.m. PST, 24-hours prior to arrival in order to avoid a one night cancellation fee, plus tax. Some groups and corporate accounts may vary – so please check with group organizer for negotiated cancellation policies. Further, some rates are based upon prepayment/no cancellation so please check the policy before booking.

What is your no show policy?

Guest that no-show for their reservations prevent the hotel from selling the room. Therefore, reservations that no-show will be charged for one-nights room and tax to the credit card provided at time of booking.

Can I send a package to the hotel?

Yes! Package handling is usually free while there is an existing reservation or meeting. If you're already checked in, we will reach out to you to let you know you've received something. If you have many packages, large heavy boxes and/or need to have them held at the hotel for a long period of time, please consult with the hotel about possible storage and handling fees.

Do you offer luggage storage?

Luggage storage is available through the Front Desk at no additional charge for current registered guests of the hotel.

Can I cancel a prepaid booking?

Prepaid bookings are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Credit card provided at time of booking will be charged at the time booking is made. If the credit card declines, the reservation will be forfeited.
